I just noticed the cover says "twin peaks meets psycho", which is exactly how I was about to describe the feel of the movie; Lynch meets Hitchcock.  I don't normally go for the rural murderous family flicks, but this one is actually pretty good.  The pacing is kind of slow, but it draws you in and intensifies appropriately.  I found I really enjoyed the movie.

Description:As you may guess from the name this is an European rip-off of the movie "Mandingo", an American movie that was quite prosperous, but pained some people as it aimed to blend a significant look at slavery in the antebellum southern area with violent interracial sexploitation and "grindhouse"-style brutality. Obviously, the Italians couldn't wait to hop on this--they were currently making lots of interracial sex films at the time, and they have never been a country restricted by well taste (observe the cycle of Italian sexploitation films set in Nazi death camps). This movie is less unpleasant than its model, nevertheless, because it's very ineptly created. Not only do you have the terrible dubbing and crafty Southern accents, but the "white" characters are all performed by dark-skinned south Italians and the "blacks" are performed by northern Africans rather than African-Americans. (I also don't think there's too many palm trees and olive forest in the American South).

A juvenile guy comes back from Europe to his rich father's Southern village. He starts an affair with his widower father's gold-digging gf (who the latter refuses to marry). But subsequently he falls in love with a virginal preacher's daughter and marries her, much to gold-digger's chagrin. She gets her chance for payback though when the couple's first child is born and transforms out to be black! But all is not as it seems. Unusually, there's actually no interracial sex in this movie. The lustful, evil golddigger does seem to get off on viewing the males servants be whipped, and after she and the son catch two "slaves" having sex, they vow to show then "how their owners make love" and their is a short "interracial" orgy. I'm using quotes, nevertheless, because the "slave" couple are clearly both north African Arabs and really have lighter skin than the swarthy Italian celebrity playing the white mistress.

The Man: Lee Frost rates highly as one of the best, most talented and versatile filmmakers in the annals of exploitation cinema. Frost was born on August 14, 1935, in Globe, Arizona. He grew up in Glendale, California, and Oahu, Hawaii. He eventually wound up in Hollywood, where he started his career making TV commercials for the studio Telepics. Frost made his film debut with the early 1960s nudie cutie Surftide 77 (1962). He went on to make a slew of films in many different genres: tongue-in-cheek horror comedy (House on Bare Mountain (1962)), mondo shock documentaries (Hollywood's World of Flesh (1963), Mondo Bizarro (1966), Mondo Freudo (1966)), perverse softcore roughies (The Defilers (1965), The Animal (1968)), crime drama (The Pick-Up (1968)), westerns (Hot Spur (1968), The Scavengers (1969)) and even Nazisploitation (Love Camp 7 (1969), which has been widely cited as the prototype for the notorious Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975)). A majority of Frost's 1960s features were made for legendary trash flick producer Bob Cresse. The generally-accepted story is that all three of these micro budgeted, non-sync-sound softcore quickies were made using short-end scraps of film and then passed off as Danish productions by Frost and his producer, Armand Atamian.

Rich playboy (with a bad Elvis hair-do) preys on innocent women, luring them back to his mansion, then knocking them out and locking them up! The castle's other residents are the doctor's "touched" sister, a curvaceous nurse, and a number of bestial nut-cases they keep caged in their particular cheap subterranean dungeon. Said doctor's heedless scientific dabbling has yielded an awesome, unstoppable monster which sometimes emerges from a nearby cave to destroy arbitrary passers-by(between both you and me, this soup-kitchen excuse for a Lovecraftian "monster" is simply a handful of red-colored licorice ropes being waved around in front of the digital camera).

Majestically inexperienced in every feasible aspect, though the hothouse-color cinematography shows a modest amount of know-how in a hyper-vivid, weirdly cartoonish way, and it is amateurishly played by a cast of nobodies(unless your notion of "star power" applies to Lynne Marta, a LOVE BOAT-type 70s personality, and ex-girlfriend of STARSKY AND HUTCH actor David Soul). HELP ME, I'M POSSESSED is a fire-breathing leviathan of celluloid trash, and its perpetual obscurity is bewildering with regards to truly deserves notoriety as one of *the* all-time worst. Guttersnipe auteur Charles Nizet(THE RAVAGER, 1970) departs no rock unturned, dishing up just a little bit of every thing one might hope for in a grindhouse scary epic.
